The Angels' Share {A Book Review}

I am ashamed to admit how long it has taken me to finish this book. The Angels' Share was a book I choose in an effort to expand my reading horizons at the start of the year and while I wanted to love it, I just didn't.

I felt like the storyline of the people of Twisted Tree, Kentucky and the McFee family was extremely jumbled. Each chapter was jumpy and it was hard for me to follow what was happening at any given moment.

That being said, I also didn't love the general plot. A drifter is buried right near the McFee family distillery and it begins to draw attention from the people to Twisted Tree. People are wondering if he is the second coming of Christ as a miracle has occurred. My biggest issue is that while this is labeled as a Christian Fiction book, it truly wasn't biblically based.

All of that said, after looking at Amazon, it seems many people love this book so maybe read a few other reviews if you are interested because I am in the minority.

**I received this book for free from BookLook Bloggers.**

February {What I Learned}

1. As much as I want to enjoy NFL football, I just don't care.
I literally "watched" the Super Bowl for the snacks, halftime show and time with my guys. I LOVE college football but NFL football is just not my thing.

2. I really enjoy rearranging things in our house.
Like, all of the time. I move little things around weekly. I told Matt (and he agreed) that it helps keeps me content with our small space. Don't get me wrong, we have enough space for us but sometimes it can feel boring. Moving little things around just make me happy. This month, I moved a bookshelf in our room and I made plans to move our desk into our room once Mason is in a twin bed and Maddox no longer needs the pack and play for naps.

3. I really couldn't care less about social media debates etc etc etc.
Well, I didn't learn this during February but I was very much reminded of it. I am friends with liberals, conservatives, and everything in between and beyond and while I certainly have things I'm passionate about, I just don't want to argue about it or see people argue about it on Facebook. So, the "unfollow" button/hiding specific posts has been well utilized lately.

4. Lice suck.
Seriously, I wrote a whole post about this on 2/12/17 but y'all, I hate those little suckers.

5. Ingles' manager specials are AWESOME!!
A friend told me that one of our grocery stores has a hot Chinese food bar as well as gelato and she recommended it to me for a possible at-home date night option for Matt and me. I went to check it out and I found browsed the store and found manager specials. I've been several times already and gotten super great deals on fresh vegetables, meats, and many other things. I've saved a ton of money and I'm HOOKED!!

Croft State Park {February 2017}

You guys, the weather we have been having has been incredible!! We have tried to enjoy every single minute of it!
This past Sunday after church, we headed home for a quick lunch and went to Croft State Park for a hike.
Mason wasn't interested in a picture and Maddox was hiding. :)

CHEESE!

Love him!

We chose the Nature Trail which was labeled as easy and I think for Matt and I alone it would have been but Matt was wearing Maddox which is extra work for him and Mason was moving SLOWLY and looking at everything. It took us a long time but we had fun!

My adventurers! Mason ended up carrying and asking us to carry logs, sticks, rocks and such all the way back to the car. :)

Sleepy boy on his Daddy's back.

Again, my favorite.

The VIEWS!!!

Mason needed a "break" Sunning seemed like the perfect thing to do. He also got to dip his feet into the cold water!

And another break!!

We made it to the car and Matt started feeding Maddox. I drove us down to the lake for a quick look.

Then, because life is all about balance, we stopped for frozen custard and French fries. :)

No, thanks, Ma. I don't want a kiss.

His first French fry!

Smiles...picture proof of a good day!

Valentine's Day 2017

Valentine's Day started like any other day at our house. All smiles!!

And lots of playing...

Once Maddox laid down for his nap, I was doing a few chores and Mason called me into the living room where he had presents for me. It was the sweetest thing ever. I mean, really! "You open dese Ma!"

It was the sweetest gesture and even though they were all his toys, when I said, "These are for me!?!" and he said "YES!!!"

Then it was speech time and we walked there with our Valentines in hand. Maddox and I chilled out during that hour. Well, he chewed on books. :)

Mason got a Valentine from his speech buddy but he wouldn't stop long enough for a good picture of it!!

Both boys took a good nap that afternoon and after nap I loaded them up to go meet up with Matt. Mason was a big helper in the car!

We picked Matt up at the tire place where he was having one of his tires patched and we went to Golden Corral!
Mason, again, could care less about stopping for a picture. And no, he didn't finish all of that. We helped him with some of it. ;)

Where's my food, Ma?!?

It was delicious food and Maddox got to taste his first chocolate. What better day for that to happen!?!

Toothless Mason...chocolate all over his teeth...bahaha!

His face!?! Seriously, another picture!?!

hahahahahaha

We went to Barnes and Noble to walk around and play. Then we picked up the truck and went home. We let the boys open their Valentine's gifts from us and we played with them the rest of the night.

Before bed, we all snuggled up for books.

and I got ALL of the snuggles and kisses from my boys!

Check out Maddox! ha!

After we put the boys to bed, we watched a show together and then gave each other a foot rub. I started to feel really fatigued so we called it an early night and were both in bed by 9:30. It was a fun day though!
