Hooray for Winning!

I recently won a giveaway on Bailey's blog. The giveaway was for a Tervis Tumbler from Shop Crystal Faye. I was so pleased with the prompt delivery from Crystal. I love the cup and knew I would because I once worked at a store that sold Tervis items and I know they are good quality. Thanks Bailey and Crystal!

Check out their blogs and Crystal's shop :)

The Color Run

Months ago, Matt and I decided we wanted to do The Color Run in Charlotte. We signed up the day it opened and we have looked forward to it since! It was this weekend and honestly, it was a blast. Matt and I feel like we have been non-stop for the last few months so it was nice to get away for the weekend and do something extremely fun together! I love doing fun things with that guy. Here are our pictures.

Here we are before the race, pumped and ready to go!

Just before the race and all of the color!!

During the race, approaching the first color zone!

After!!!

I would say we cleaned up well!

Cool thing...Our friends in Louisiana were also doing the race this day so here are a few of their pics too!

This was such a blast! If you ever get the chance to run in the Color run---DO IT!! :)

Way to Go, Hampton Inn & Suites

This weekend was the Color Run and a post about that will come this week!

But for now I wanted to share a pretty cool story.

Matt and I decided to stay both Friday and Saturday night in Charlotte, so after the race on Saturday, we went shopping/walking for a while and then we grabbed lunch. We shared an appetizer of cheesy fries and then we each got a sandwich. Neither of us were able to take more than 2 bites of our sandwiches because we were stuffed so we brought them back to the hotel.

I put them in the refrigerator and we just chilled for a while. About 5 hours later, I went back to get our sandwiches and they were spoiled. Turns out the refrigerator was not on!!! We were so upset because it was about $20 worth of food.

Matt went downstairs to the desk and told them what happened and said we needed them to do something about it. The clerk said she would check with a manager and get back to us.

About 30 minutes later, she called the room and said they were giving us one of our nights FREE!! We had already paid but they gave us a credit on our card.

It was such a blessing and MUCH more than we deserved!

Thank you Hampton Inn and Suites, Concord, NC for taking care of your customers. We will not forget it!

The Best Fish that Ever lived

On February 8th, 2011, just a few weeks after we returned from our honeymoon, we purchased our first pet.
We chose to get a betta fish and we named him Splenden.

It was actually a treat from me to Matt on a hard day. He took excellent care of him.

Last week, he began to act funny and we determined, through research, that he was likely constipated. We followed all of the guidelines to help him get better and we were so glad he was starting to look like he was getting better.

Tonight, after a weekend out of town, (we took him with us because he had been sick), Matt was trying to move him into clean water and something happened and he went limp.

Sadly, Splenden passed away. Matt and I both just cried and cried. We were both surprised at how much we cried but we just loved him so much and he was a part of our family!

Splenden, Thanks for being an awesome fish and teaching us both about how to care for something else! We will miss you!

P.S. When I texted Mom to tell her, she said "So Sad. Need to replace him with a real baby boy!" Crazy lady!

Guilty Pleasure

Hi All! And Happy Veteran's Day!

This has been a great day for us. We went to church this morning, splurged on lunch, did chores and then a little shopping for the Mister.

And then, we watched a TV show. This show is our guilty pleasure. It's reality television. It's hilarious. It's trashy. It's a lot of different things depending on the episode.

We like to call this our guilty pleasure.

What show is it?

THE REAL HOUSEWIVES OF BEVERLY HILLS!!!

We started watching this show last season and we like it. When I say "we", I mostly mean "me" but Matt likes to watch some of the dramatic outrageous parts, too!

Anyway, Have a great evening AND tell us...What's your guilty pleasure?

Christmas Gifts

Matt and I are both gift givers. We love to buy gifts for our loved ones on special days and we LOVE to get gifts for each other. We also know that because of that, we have to train ourselves to do that but to do it in a way that isn't over the top.

What we decided to do was give Christmas gifts in this way...

Want, Need, Wear, Read
Many of you may have seen this going around Pinterest over the last while and we have adopted this over the last two years and we have also personalized it further too.

Our family Christmas gift motto is:

Want, Need, Wear, Read and Something to do together.

This is super fun because we still get to give gifts but we also cap it so it doesn't get out of hand. Another way that we prevent it from getting out of hand is that we do larger gifts/celebrations for birthdays.

It is a bit early to be doing this since we don't have children yet but we want to be in the habit of it for when it is time for that :)
