Not ME! Monday

I thought I'd give this a try again this week :)

NEVER would I go to my computer to do something and completely forget what it was approximately 50% of the time. That would never happen to me on a Sunday afternoon. I remember everything well!

My husband and I didn't buy a Buick this week and we certainly haven't been cracking jokes all week about driving an "old person" car. Nope, not us.

I absolutely didn't wrap every single solitary gift I got for my husband including stocking stuffers just because I wanted him to have a lot of gifts under the tree. No, that is ridiculous.

This past Wednesday night, my husband and I definitely didn't dance in the living room for 20 minutes practicing our "dips" and then wake up the next morning sore. No, that's absurd.

And I surely didn't cry when I was looking at an album of some people I barely know depicting the events of when they got engaged. NO! that would have been a complete waste of time.

There are tons more but I'll save them for another time so I DO NOT embarrass myself too much. :)

Who Are you?? WHO? WHO??

(That's my CSI themed title in case you were wondering :))

Today, I was reading some blogs as I do on most typical days and I started thinking about how awesome the blogging community is. I mean, really, it gives you the opportunity to learn about and from some of the most amazing people alive. It allows you to connect with people just like you whether you are single, a newlywed, a new mom, middle-aged etc. It's just awesome.

Recently, I've expanded my blog reading because I've found some new blogs that are heavily followed and do several link-ups etc. Because of this, I have had more people reading my blog. I know some of these people are now following me via Blogger, others through Google Connect possibly and maybe there are others too.

So, I was wanting to ask you a favor. If you are reading this blog and you are not a family member of mine, will you comment on this post or send me at e-mail at slpleslieanne(at)yahoo(dot)com? It would mean a lot to me. I'd love to know who all is reading on a regular basis.

Thank you ahead of time. :)

Oh and before I go, I'll leave you with a fun/funny picture. This past week, my husband and I bought a used car. A Buick in fact :). Here's the proof. I love him.

Favorite Holiday Recipe

Linking up with Kelly at Kellyskornerblog.com for SUYL Friday!!

I have a ton of recipes that I love to cook but recently Matt and I came across a recipe for Sopapilla Cheesecake. Yes, it's ALL OVER PINTEREST but honestly, that's not where I got it. My mom sent me the recipe after her office party. We made it for Thanksgiving and I'm pretty sure it's a new tradition. YUM O

Here it is!

Sopapilla Cheesecake

Ingredients:
-2 cans pillsbury butter crescent rolls
-2-3(8oz) packages cream cheese (softened) This is your preference if you want more or less filling
-1 cup sugar
-1 teaspoon vanilla
-1 cup butter (melted)
-Cinnamon & sugar

Instructions:
Unrolled and spread 1 can crescent rolls on bottom of un-greased 9x13 pan or pyrex dish.

Combine softened cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla.
Spread mixture over crescent rolls.
Unroll and spread remaining crescent roll over mixture.
Pour melted butter over the top and sprinkle with cinnamon.
Bake at 350 degrees for 30-45 minutes. Keep an eye on it because it may cook faster depending on your oven.

*If making for a holiday gathering, prepare ahead and bake while you are eating dinner so it will be
ready when you are done eating. So yummy hot but just as good cold!

  2. Colored or white lights on the tree and house?  White, always
  3. Do you hang mistletoe?  I haven't before but I'm considering it this year.
  4. When do you put up your decorations?  ASAP. This year, My husband and I put them on on November 23rd. .
  5. What is your favorite holiday dish?  I love anything sweet. I also love ham at Christmas.

  8. Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve?  See above. :) I love the idea of giving the gift of Christmas PJ's on Christmas Eve!
  9. How do you decorate your Christmas tree? White lights and a wide variety of ornaments. All are special. Each year for the last 7-10 years, my Mom has given me ornaments so that when I was married, I'd be able to decorate my tree. This year, Matt and I did just that. It was fun showing him all of the special ornaments as well as adding to it. We hope to buy a Morgan Family ornament each year.

Witty Wednesday

It is Wednesday, right?

My mom sent me an e-mail with these funnies in it so I had to share!

                                 AMAZINGLY SIMPLE HOME REMEDIES

    1. If you're choking on an ice cube simply pour a cup of boiling water down your throat. Presto! The blockage will instantly remove itself

    2. Avoid cutting yourself when slicing vegetables by getting someone else to hold while you chop.

    3. Avoid arguments with the Mrs. About lifting the toilet seat by using the sink.

    4. For high blood pressure sufferers: simply cut yourself and bleed for a few minutes, thus reducing the pressure in your veins. Remember to use a timer.

    5. A mouse trap, placed on top of your alarm clock, will prevent you from rolling over and going back to sleep after you hit the snooze button.

    6. If you have a bad cough, take a large dose of laxatives, then you'll be afraid to cough.

    7. You only need two tools in life - WD-40 and Duct Tape. If it doesn't move and should, use the WD-40. If it shouldn't move and does, use the duct tape.

    8. Remember: Everyone seems normal until you get to know them.

Daily Thought: SOME PEOPLE ARE LIKE SLINKIES. NOT REALLY GOOD FOR ANYTHING BUT THEY BRING A SMILE TO YOUR FACE WHEN PUSHED DOWN THE STAIRS

If you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem.

I know some of these are crude but I couldn't help myself!

Not Me! Monday

For the last four years, I have enjoyed reading blogs. I started reading them before I even considered writing one myself. It's fun to read and learn about other people's lives as they are willing to share. Recently, it has helped me make connections with new people in the blogging world etc. I enjoy it.

One of the blogs I enjoy reading is McMama's blog. I have always enjoyed her blog. She can be controversial at times but that's the fun in blogging. If you read something you don't like you shrug your shoulders and move on. She and her husband are believers and have 5 children. Anyway, neat and long story to their lives. Check out her blog if you are interested.

Every Monday, she writes a post called "Not Me". It's super fun and I've considered linking up to it several times but never have. Today, I thought I would give it a try.

This morning, I most certainly NOT get so involved in telling a story to my husband in the car that I hit him in the eye. Nope, NOT ME!

Last week, I never even thought about putting various refrigerated items into the pantry instead of the refrigerator because I'm not used to our new apartment yet. No, I would NEVER do that!

Lastly, I did not scream at the computer when I was watching the LSU vs UGA game because the announcers were ANNOYING me. NO! Does that sound like something I would do?! ;-)

I wish I had more of these fun statements or well, maybe I don't :)

The Morgan Family- 2011 Christmas Ornament

Today, Matt and I went downtown in Spartanburg for a Holiday Handmade Hoopla. It was an awesome exhibition of some local people who have AMAZING talent. We didn't buy much because our budget is tight but we got some business cards and names of Etsy shops so we can purchase things later if we want. We also got a great idea for a birthday gift for our brother-in-law.

We did buy one thing and we are super excited about it! We bought a handmade birdhouse ornament. Here is a photograph of our precious ornament courtesy of my husband. Isn't his photography amazing? I think so!

Christmas Traditions

Since this is our first Christmas as a married couple, we have been talking about new traditions we want to start together as well as some that we can start now and carry on with our kids once we have them. Matt read about a family who wraps up 25 books at the start of December and each night, one book is unwrapped and read. I thought this was great since I LOVE children's books and collect them. Matt said "we may not be able to do it this year because we don't have any books". I immediately went to our children's book bookshelf. I found 14 Christmas books! We started last night and I hope we will continue it until Christmas day. We have our eyes out for some inexpensive or even used Christmas books to add to our collection. So excited.

Here is what we read first!
Such a sweet story. You can get it on amazon here

It is a board book and pretty short. It will not disappoint.

Thanksgiving Pictures

Matt and I loved spending Thanksgiving together just the two of us. It was a relaxing day just as we had hoped. We enjoyed some yummy breakfast as I shared already and we cooked some delicious foods for our dinner. Here is the proof!

The "before" picture of the turkey

and The "after" picture

This was delicious. Please try it out!

Also delicious. Cheesy but not too cheesy
This is the recipe we used but we left out the paprika
making them "Unsmoky" but it was still yummy!

Dressing- our way
We used the guide in the November issue of Food Network magazine.
Very helpful. Ours included white bread, diced ham and
mushrooms. Turned out great.

All together now :)

Dessert was Sopapilla Cheesecake.
Please go find this on Pinterest right now and make it!

Cooking away!

Here we are in front of our tree. Our FIRST Thanksgiving was a success.

Rewind: Pumpkin Carving!

Last year, Matt and I carved pumpkins together and it was a blast. This year, we went to the pumpkin patch with Jeff and Mandy while we visited in Knoxville, TN and got a pumpkin there. We had our pumpkin for over two weeks before Matt decided to carve it. Here are some pictures from that adventure.

Poor Pumpkin!

Our Pumpkin was starting to sprout in several places. So cute!

Showing off his handy work!

See that pumpkin on the left? I spray painted it and used black tacks to put the "M" on it! LOVE IT!

Our First Fire

The new apartment we moved into in South Carolina is a bit older than our last apartment. This is fine but is just taking a little adjusting. One huge perk is that it has a FIREPLACE! My last apartment before we got married had a gas fireplace but the living room was situated so that it was impossible to have a fire and still have furniture in the living room. Bummer, right!?

Matt was super excited about having a fireplace, as was I. This past Monday, Matt went to W@l-Mart and came back and said "I have a surprise". These surprises always excite me. It can be anything from a new magazine, some chocolate, bubble bath, etc. Well, this time is was an ARTIFICIAL LOG! My manly man was ready to build a fire!

Shortly after his venture out on Monday, he got sick with a stomach bug and was down for the count for nearly 48 hours (sad face). Tonight, he was feeling a tiny bit better so we decided it was the perfect time to build a fire. Here are some pictures! We hope to build bigger and better fires throughout the winter but we have to find a good/cheap place to buy firewood when needed.

An update and a start on Thanksgiving fun

I did so well updating each day until we moved last week. As you know, when you move life gets crazy! We have been here for a week and are settled in well. I'll post pictures of the apartment we live in as well as our Christmas decorations ASAP.

But first, I want to share about Thanksgiving. I don't have a ton of time or access to all of the food pictures we took yet but I wanted to share our Thanksgiving breakfast for today.

We had Pumpkin Spice Cake Muffins with Chocolate chips!

I'm sure if you are on Pinterest you have seen them floating around everywhere. I saw them a ton right before Thanksgiving but then someone blogged about making them and I was hooked. The common recipe doesn't have chocolate chips but I think it was the perfect addition.

Recipe:

1 box of Spice Cake mix

1 15 ounce can of Pumpkin

1 cup of milk chocolate chips

Mix cake mix and pumpkin together with a hand mixer. Fold in chocolate chips. Fill muffin tins/cups 2/3 full and bake at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes. They were divine. I don't have the picture of ours available. Here is one from Pinterest.

We loved them and I hope you will too. Let me know if you try them. By the way, I plan to make them again soon with chocolate cake mix. The pumpkin was so subtle, I think they would be good all year 'round!

National Blog Posting Month Take 17

Thanksgiving is 1 week away!

In some ways, it doesn't seem possible that it is already the end of November. In other ways, it's not surprising at all.

This Thanksgiving is a special one because it is a "first" one. This Thanksgiving is our first Thanksgiving as a married couple!! We are so excited to spend the day just the two of us.

We have been in the midst of such a large transition (and still are) with my quitting my job here, deciding to move, preparing to move and within the next few days, actually moving! We are so ready to be in Spartanburg and be settled into our new place and our new adventure. It is HARD living with everything you own in boxes as you prepare to move.

Tomorrow, we load our moving truck with all of our material belongings. We will spend two days cleaning our apartment and saying the last of our good-byes to Montgomery. We will stay Sunday night with Matt's grandparents and then we will move in to our place on Monday morning.

Tuesday will be spent getting Internet hooked up, a job meeting/interview, HUGE grocery shopping trip (which I'm thrilled about!) and putting up our Christmas decorations!!!

We are considering the next 10 days after that our time of relaxation, refreshment and just enjoying our time
Together. It's sure to be wonderful!

National Blog Posting Month Take 9

Wow, I really can't believe it's November 9th already. That means that the Mr. and I will pack up and move in 12 days. It is CRAZY exciting that God has given us this opportunity for a new adventure and we are grateful although we don't know very many of the details.

At the same time as it is exciting, it is a bit bittersweet too. Matt and I will move from the only "home" we have known together. We have lived in this apartment in Montgomery since we returned from our honeymoon so it's a bit sad. HOWEVER, we will not really miss our neighbors. They are incredibly loud at the worst times and we won't miss that. We know it's one of the joys of living in apartments and that it is possible that our next apartment may have a noisy neighbor too. So we will just deal with it until it's time for us to have a house of our own.

12 days left in Montgomery. 12 days until we move into our new apartment in Spartanburg. 13 days until we put up our Christmas tree and 15 days until we celebrate our first Thanksgiving as a married couple. Can't wait to cook that meal!

National Blog Posting Month Take 8

Just some ramblings for the day!

This National Blog Posting Month is pretty fun. I hope I can keep it up throughout the next 22  days.

Matt and I are planning to write a 101 in 1001 list to begin on January 1, 2012. This will be an excellent way of personal growth as well as having lots of fun.

I loved the Blog Link-up that I participated in last Friday over at Kelly's Korner and I found so many blogs that are like this one. I'm excited to follow those blogs and participate more with them in the near future.

We are moving in 12 days! AHHHHHHH AND WOOOOOHOOOOOO!!!! Matt and I are so excited but you know any change can be slightly nerve-wracking just because of all of the details.

Our apartment is currently overtaken by boxes which is both a good and not so good thing. It's good because it means we are essentially packed up 2 weeks before we move but it's not so good because I feel like the boxes are closing in on me! :)

Well, that's all for today.

A neat God-moment

Last year for Christmas I gave the Mr. (who was not the Mr. yet) a calendar. For each month, there was something special that we would do for that month. Also, on various days throughout each month there were written smaller special/fun things to do.

On the calendar for today was "Ice Cream". This would normally not be a big deal but since our budget is so tight as we prepare to move and we aren't really grocery shopping much, we don't have any. And we don't really need to go out and buy any either. We decided we would just wait until another time.

WELL, today, Matt got to work and in the break room there was a sign that said "Great Job making sales plan last week!! Help yourself to some ice cream and all the fixins!!" Matt was able to eat ice cream on his break and because of how much there was left, he was able to bring me some too!

I WAS IN HOG HEAVEN!!!!

God is GOOD, I must confess!

For those of you who know me, you know that I LOVE TO COOK.

It's a part of who I am. My grandmother loved to cook and was excellent at it. My mom doesn't love to cook but she can cook some great dishes when she does. One of my mentors, Ellen, is an excellent cook and makes dishes from nothing it seems. It's just part of who I am.

However, since we made the decision to move to South Carolina, we have really been watching our pennies and also limiting our grocery shopping to almost nothing in an effort to eat all we have before we move.

I have actually been pretty impressed with the dishes I've made from such limited ingredients. supercook.com has definitely helped!!!! That being said, I'm looking for some new recipes for the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays since I'll actually be able to cook again.

Share with me your favorite recipes. Appetizers. Entrees. Salads. Desserts. etc

Can't wait to get cookin' again!

Wow, It's November 6th! That just seems impossible!

Tomorrow is November 7th (obviously) and November 7th is a very special day. It is the birthday of one of my oldest and dearest friends. Jill Michelle Himel Soderstrom.

Jill and I have been friends since pre-school. Best friends through thick and thin. We have been next to each other even when we were (are) far away. It's a friendship that truly is God-ordained. No other way to explain it.

I'm so proud of who Jill has become as a woman, a wife, a professional, and a daughter of Christ.

She is incredible!

Fasting

Fasting....Fasting....Fasting

Why in the world would The Morgan Family fast? Well, there are MANY reasons that we would fast but the main reason and the only one that matters right now is that God told us to. Matt and I are in the middle of the biggest transition, so far, in our married lives. This transition is happening over the next two months as we move from Montgomery, Alabama to Spartanburg, South Carolina and start new jobs etc. This is a SUPER exciting time (and uncertain to an extent) and we are grateful for the opportunity to go through this new door.

As we transition, we are believing God for BIG BIG BIG things (in every sense) and because of that we are fasting.

Matt and I will choose to keep all but one thing we are fasting from to ourselves. However, we wanted to let those who read this blog know that we are fasting from Facebook through the end of the year. Please know our twitter accounts are currently linked to our Facebook pages so you will likely still see updates from us.

Please join us in praying as we transition. We love you guys!

National Blog Posting Month Take 3

"Can you listen to music and write? What was the last song you heard?"

NO! I absolutely can't write on my blog while I listen to music. If I do, I find myself typing "Today we were at the park, don't stop believing" (while listening to Journey). It doesn't turn out well for me! Although I can't do both at the same time, I LOVE music. However, recently I have not listened to much music lately as my time in the car has been limited.

The last song I listened to was "Reign in Us" by Starfield. I listened to this song as I was driving to my interview the other day. I LOVE THAT SONG! It has been a favorite since the first day I heard it.

On a completely separate note, I read this article last night and Matt and I were both appaulled. It's so sad when people "bear the name" of Christ and react in this way. It is shameful. Read the link below about a group of people who are picketing the funeral of a fallen soldier.

For me, I'm not sure this will be possible, not because I don't want to, but because we are moving this month and I'm not sure it's will happen because of that. Some days I will utilize a prompt for my posts and others I just freestyle :).

Today, I wanted to say why I love to write on this blog. This blog is an outlet for me. It helps me write down some things for us to remember and show our joys, struggles, exciting times with everyone who reads. I realize that only a few people read our blog on a regular basis and that doesn't bother me at all :). This blog is also the place where I plan to write about our children once we have them. Write about our anniversaries. Write about new paths God takes us on.

I'm pretty excited that in less than 3 weeks, God is taking us to South Carolina. I think I'll LOVE blogging there.

Prayers Appreciated.

Matt and I are driving to South Carolina tonight. I have an interview for a Pediatric Rehab SLP position tomorrow morning at 10:45 EST. Please be praying that we will have safe and easy travel since we are driving so much in such a little time. Also, pray that the interview goes well. This would be my ideal job at this point in my life.

Love you guys!

Sunday Download!

I've been wanting to blog all week but my head is so full of so much "stuff" that I haven't been able to make a coherent written thought :) Everything is going so well here, it's a bit ridiculous.

I can't wait to sit down and write an extended, lengthy, unnecessary blog about all of the good things going on (even if no one reads it) :). But for now, I'll just say this: Matt and I are moving to Spartanburg, South Carolina on November 20th to follow the plan that God has for us.

A Product Review/Suggestion

I subscribe to a group called Vocalpoint that reviews and suggests products, provides surveys, coupons, etc. I've been following them for almost a year. Recently, they opened up the opportunity to their followers to learn about products, blog about them and share them with others. Today I received an e-mail about a new product called: Vick's Nature Fusion.

I have not used this product yet, personally, but I can guarantee that if a cold or flu strikes this Morgan household this winter (God forbid) this is the first product we will grab. What makes this product unique from other products? Instead of using artificial flavors, Vick's Nature Fusion utilizes real honey. Awesome! Vocalpoint.com describes the product as this:

Vicks® Nature Fusion is a new cold and flu liquid that is
flavored with natural honey instead of artificial flavors.**
  • Free of alcohol, artificial dyes*** and gluten
  • Powerful cold symptom relief medicine
  • Delicious goodness of real honey
  • From the trusted Vicks® brand
I hope you will consider utilizing this product if a cold strikes you! Here is a link for a coupon for this amazing product:

Meet the Family Part 1

Matt and I were talking last night and realized that we had not introduced our family on the blog. We thought it would be a fun few posts. Here is the first installment. Meet the Morgans/Canters/Browns etc :)

It all started with the Grandparents :)

Meet George and Virginia Brown. These are Matt's Maternal grandparents. They currently live in Inman, South Carolina. Aren't they precious? Grandmom is the beginning of all things crafty in the family (at least to my knowledge :) )

Meet Mom-Mom (aka Jane Morgan). This is Matt's paternal grandmother. She lives in Pennsylvania. Unfortunately, Matt and I don't get to see her much. The first time I met her was at our wedding and she's so sweet. We are making future plans for a Northeast visit.

Then comes the parents, Rob and Claire Morgan. Matt's parents lives in Montgomery, AL. Matt's dad is retired from the Airforce and his mom is a crocheting guru (for real). Didn't they look sharp at the wedding?!

Enter, Mr. Ben Morgan aka Phil. Ben is the youngest of the Morgan brood. He is 22 years old and is a student at Auburn University-Montgomery. He's a funny guy, for sure.

The Canter's. Holly is the oldest child and only girl of the Morgan kids. She is 1 week older than I am. She and her husband, Mitch Canter, live in Franklin, TN. Mitch is a computer guru/nerd/genius and Holly is a sewing/all other things creative guru. They are the parents of Luke and Kieran.

Luke is the older of the two boys. The first grandchild in the family. Luke just turned 3 in August. He is a barrel of laughs and fun!

And last but not least is Kieran. Kieran was little bitty in these pictures at the wedding but earlier this month, he turned 1! Doesn't he look like his brother?!?

Obviously, there are many more to add. Aunts, Uncles, Cousins (x like 300000). Maybe one day we will share them too!

Saving Money/Couponing

Today on Kelly's Korner: SUYL everyone is sharing couponing/saving money tips. Several months back, I was heavily couponing and saving lots of money. Since then I have slowed down a bit because I am not shopping as much. However, you can save money even when you don't coupon. One of the things that Matt and I do is try to buy only items that are on sale. This works well for us and I just plan our menu around what was on sale.

Also, we utilize coupons when going out to eat when possible, which isn't often because we don't eat out very much at all. We also eliminated soft drinks at restaurants and only get water. This really helps us too!
We also share a meal when we can. Let's be honest, most of the time, there is plenty of food for 2 people.

The biggest way to save money whether at the grocery store, restaurant, or a retail store is to look for the least expensive yet best product for you and get it. :)

Is Life really too Short?

Since I quit my job and we are waiting for God to show us the next step, I have had plenty of time to think about life (among other things). In that time, I have heard news of several younger people dying and it has made me contemplate a statement that so many people say, in fact, I have even said it myself. The statement is this:

Life is too short.

Is it really?

In the past, I would have said yes. Surely, young people did not live to the fullest possible extent because their lives were taken earlier than they should have been taken.

However, now I think differently. I believe that if you are following God, seeking him for His will, that your life is never too short or too long. It's just the right length.

See, if you are following God's will, he will leave you on Earth just long enough to fulfill the passion and purpose he has for your life. Once that is done, He will bring you home with Him. Why? Because he loves you.

What do you think?

Yummy and Easy Recipes

Since I'm not working right now, my goal when cooking besides making food that is delicious is to spend as little as possible. I found a recipe website called supercook.com that allows you to input ingredients you have at home and it gives you recipes for those ingredients. Tonight, I have made two delicious recipes

Cheesy Pasta Bake

1 can of cream of mushroom soup
3 cups of cooked pasta (your choice)
1-2 cups of shredded cheese

Boil pasta as directed. Put soup in a casserole dish and cook on 400 degrees for 10-12 minutes until bubbly. Mix cheese into soup until incorporated. Add drained pasta into soup/cheese mixture and bake for up to 20 more minutes until heated through.

Peanut Butter Cookies

1 cup of peanut butter
1 cup of brown sugar
1 egg

Incorporate well and put small spoonfuls onto sheet.  Bake at 350 degrees on a greased cookie sheet

Both are delicious!

Wisdom Wednesday

Recently, I've been reading a blog series about how to increase the finances for your family outside of you 40 hour per week job. And also, even instead of a 40 hour per week job. Matt and I have been discussing this extensively and I will share in depth with you all soon.

For now, I have signed up for Ad Sense which attaches advertisements to our blog and if people click on them, we make money. It's a minimal amount but better than what we would make before they were there. So, if you see them, click on them. Won't hurt you and it will help us :)

Also, there is a new link for e-mails. If you put your e-mail in there, it will send you an e-mail when we update the blog if that's something you are interested in.

Love you all

Something to Say Sunday

When Matt and I first started this blog, we discussed that we wanted it to be for updating folks on our lives, posting fun memories, and also for sharing with others our struggles, victories and what God was teaching us about our relationship and life in general.

Recently, I mentioned that I quit my job for various reasons (mostly, because God said to) and since then I have been looking for another position. One week ago, I had a phone interview for a job in Birmingham and this past Thursday, I had an on-site interview. Matt and I had been praying that the Lord would speak clearly in the situation and say "This is the way, walk in it". A friend confirmed this prayer to us prior to the interview as well (Love when God does that).

I went to the interview on Thursday and the interview went well, great, in fact. I was impressed with the company. The facilities I visited were clean and very nice but when I left something just wasn't right. It wasn't anything I could pinpoint and honestly, I was a bit confused. I talked to Matt and he said "If you don't have a peace about it, then neither do I. And maybe that's our answer". But wait, would God really tell us "No" to this job after he led us to this job in the first place. Or Did He? Hmmm....

I called my wise mother and discussed with her what Matt and I were feeling and she said "think about it and see what you feel is best". Over the weekend, Matt and I discussed the whole situation and decided that God was clearly telling us "No" and we had no other option but to listen to him. This is a hard decision to make. Why? Well, it means turning down employment. Who does that?!? Someone yielded to God that's who. So what now?

I told Matt that one of the reasons that I felt like God was telling us "No" to this specific job was because I need to be yielded to Matt and his leadership in our relationship/family. Matt is an awesome leader but I'm not so good of a follower (can't believe I just said that outloud typed that). So, what does that mean in this situation? It means that as of right now, we reconvene Matt's job search. Matt has been working at The Home Depot for over 4 years. It's not a job he loves but it's a job God has provided and despite intermittent job hunting over the last year, nothing else has come up. I tend to get upset about that at times and then I realize that God has used every single step in our lives to teach us something. If Matt had gotten another job 4 months ago, our lives would have looked completely different and I'm not sure I would have wanted that!

Our next step is to PRAY and ask God what he would have us to do. We believe the first step is to re-start Matt's job hunt (which I will help with a great deal, since I'm not working) and see what God shows us. We are not fearful. We KNOW God is in control and that our needs will be taken care of and we believe that all events of our lives together have led up to this point. Why would he leave us now...oh, He won't for HE IS GOOD!

Witty Wednesday

My Mom sent me this today and it made me laugh!

A mature (over 70) lady gets pulled over for speeding...
Older Woman
: Is there a problem, Officer?

Officer: Ma'am, you were speeding.
Older Woman
: Oh, I see.
Officer
: Can I see your license please?
Older Woman
: I'd give it to you but I don't have one.
Officer
: Don't have one?
Older Woman
: Lost it, 4 years ago for drunk driving.
Officer
: I see...Can I see your vehicle registration papers please.
Older Woman
: I can't do that.
Officer
: Why not?

Older Woman
: I stole this car.

Officer
: Stole it?
Older Woman
: Yes, and I killed and hacked up the owner.

Officer
: You what?

Older Woman
: His body parts are in plastic bags in the trunk if you want to see

The Officer looks at the woman and slowly backs away to his car and calls for back up. Within minutes 5 police cars circle the car. A senior officer slowly approaches the car, clasping his half drawn gun.

Officer 2
: Ma'am, could you step out of your vehicle please! The woman steps out of her vehicle.
Older woman
: Is there a problem sir?
Officer 2
: One of my officers told me that you have stolen this car and murdered the owner.
Older Woman
: Murdered the owner?

Officer 2
: Yes, could you please open the trunk of your car, please.

The woman opens the trunk, revealing nothing but an empty trunk.

Officer 2
: Is this your car, ma'am?
Older Woman
: Yes, here are the registration papers.
The officer is quite stunned.

Officer 2
: One of my officers claims that you do not have a driving license.

The woman digs into her handbag and pulls out a clutch purse and hands it to the officer.

The officer examines the license. He looks quite puzzled.

Officer 2
: Thank you ma'am, one of my officers told me you didn't have a license, that you stole this car, and that you murdered and hacked up the owner.

Older Woman
: Bet the liar told you I was speeding, too.
