31 Days: Letters to Matt, Day 28

Dear Matt,

Okay, seriously, Sunday afternoons are the best when neither of us are working!

We went to church, did a few chores and then we both sat down in the living room and read.

After that, we played Yahtzee and we just chilled.

IT. WAS. AWESOME.

Let's make sure it happens a lot over the next several months!

LOVE YOU!
Les

Dear Matt,

It's days like today when I see you with children and I KNOW that you will be a great dad to our children when the time comes. What a blessing it will be to have children of our own.
I love you and cannot wait to have children with you!

Les

Great Gift Idea

Recently, I discovered this great gift idea for a bride and I was just waiting for the perfect time to give it!

Just last month, my dear friend, Brittany, got engaged to her long time boyfriend, Drew and I knew it was the perfect chance to send the gift.

Here's what you need:

One glass jar with or without a lid

Rocks like these; you'll need to start a countdown for your friend's wedding and include that many rocks in the jar

I counted up and it was 226 days until the wedding and I had bought 223 rocks which was perfect because by the time I mailed the gift and it arrived at her doorstep, there were 223 days left until the wedding.

Now, she can take one rock out for each day until the wedding!

Such a fun and thoughtful idea.  Can't wait for those days to countdown so that I can be there for Britt and Drew to start their married life together!

31 Days: Letters to Matt, Day 22

Dear Matt,

You give the best foot rubs ever! Seriously, almost every night if I lay down and ask you to rub my feet, you do.

I love that and I love you!

31 Days: Letters to Matt, Day 21

Dear Matt,

Can you believe that we made the move to Spartanburg, South Carolina exactly 11 months ago today?

It is hard for me to believe. I'm so glad that we both heard the Lord's voice and chose to move here.

I love adventures with you and I love that Spartanburg is our home.

Love you!

Pumpkin Patch 2011

7 days before we head to the Pumpkin Patch this year, I realize that I never blogged about last year's visit. Wow! Even though it is 1+ year later I wanted to post these pictures. We went to Knoxville with the Moody's and we had a blast. This Pumpkin patch is a good one! Here are pictures from that day!

Nursing Home Fun

For those of you who don't know, I am a Speech Language Pathologist and I work at a Continuing Care Retirement Community. I LOVE my job for many reasons and some days it can drive me crazy BUT today we had a good laugh!

We have a skilled nursing unit which is where I am most of the time and the majority of the residents in the skilled unit have some form of dementia. Several of our residents have almost completely diminished short term/immediate memory recall. Two of those residents are far advanced in their dementia and are really two of the cutest elderly people.

Anyway, recently these two residents have developed a crush on each other! It was so sweet and cute UNTIL the male resident started to coax the female resident! I'll leave it at that and please know that our staff including nurses etc is aware and are taking care of each resident so that nothing inappropriate happens but it is so cute to see those two flirting!

Just know that apparently, no matter how much happens as you age, you still like to flirt with the other gender. It is precious!

Happy Saturday and Geaux Tigers!

31 Days: Letters to Matt, Day 20

Dear Matt,

Thanks for being a rockin' husband and leaving the computer pulled up on ESPN3 with the LSU game on so that when I got home from work I could watch it. You love me, I know it :)

Love,
Les

31 Days: Letters to Matt, Day 19

Dear Matt,

One of the things I have always appreciated about you is your willingness to work. Now don't get me wrong, I know you enjoy a day off but it has always inspired me that you are such a hard worker and that you always work hard for us.

Thanks for always working on your "list" on days off so that when we are both home together, there is less to do.

I love you!

31 Days: Letters to Matt, Day 18

Dearest Matt,

I find it hilarious that you will turn your fan on just so you can put on your robe and be all snuggled into bed. It's one of the things that both baffles me and cracks me up at the same time.
And it's one of the MANY reasons why I will keep you.

Love you babe,

Leslie

There was a HAIR in my FOOT

About three weeks ago, I was walking from our bedroom into the living room and I stepped on something that kind of hurt. I looked at my foot and had Matt look at it and we didn't see anything. Since that time, my foot had been sore in that spot but every time Matt looked he still didn't see anything. It was sore to walk on at times and there was definitely a little knot on there too.

This past Sunday I asked Matt if we could really look at it and try to figure it out because it was become uncomfortable and I also didn't want to get an infection. He had me soak my foot in hot water and then he used the flashlight and nail clippers to work on it. Thankfully, the spot was on a tougher part of my foot so it was mostly skin and no blood.

He worked for about 30 minutes and didn't see anything. He kept looking and all of a sudden, he brought me the tweezers. The picture below shows what he found.

Guys, that is a hair. A 1/4 inch hair that was causing my foot discomfort. At first, I didn't think it was possible, but I stepped off of the bed and felt no pain and three days later, still no pain!

It's the craziest thing that's ever happened to me!
The picture below is my war wound after surgery :)

31 Days: Letters to Matt, Day 17

Dear Matt,

In exactly one month, we will be in Charlotte, North Carolina to run in The Color Run! I'm so excited to cross another goal off of our list and I'm so looking forward to spending the weekend away with you. As we talked about today, we have been so focused on our goals to pay off student loans in an effort to achieve other goals that we haven't had much time away together. This will be a fun weekend for sure! I love you so much!

Your bride!

31 Days: Letters to Matt, Day 16

31 Days: Letters to Matt, Day 15

Dear Matt,

I love the joy that you showed when you began reading the letters that I've written so far. I hope that they bless you for years to come. They are reminding me of all of the letters I wrote to my future husband before I even knew you. I am glad that the Lord impacted my heart to do that because I'll never forget the look on your face on our wedding day when you saw a notebook full of letters to you. I love you, Matt!

Love, Les

Sky Top Orchard---Apple Picking

Two weeks ago, we realized that it was prime apple-picking time so we packed a lunch and headed up to Sky Top Orchard  in North Carolina to pick some! In doing so, we also crossed goal #40 off of our 101 in 1001 list!

I have never been apple picking...at least to my knowledge...and it was so much fun! Because of the height of the trees and the fact that most of the lower apples had either been picked already or fallen on the ground, Matt had to do most of the work. Since he did, I took that time to snap 100 10 pictures of him. Here are a few of those as well as the few he was able to get of me!

**If you have never been apple picking, I highly recommend it. So fun and the reward is great! We have enjoyed apples for the last two weeks and still are. We've even made Homemade Apple Cider--Seriously delicious!

Heading out...

Matt was enjoying his chocolate :)

Hate to see you leave but love to see you walk away...hahaha

We both agree he looks like a dork in most of the pictures mainly because he is perched in a tree trying to pick apples and I'm forcing him to take pictures. Since I did that, I feel that I MUST post them!

See? DORK! :)

Apple Pickers!

Handsome fella!

Here begins Matt's tree climbing and my taking numerous pictures! :)

A favorite picture of mine

Deer, bird and rabbit food! :)

Here's our loot!

"Hey Babe...Stand by these gourds and let me get your picture"

HECK YES! Y'all, this is the best thing I've ever eaten and that seriously may not be an exaggeration!

Yay, Sky Top!

AHHHHH! :)

Here are Matt's pictures of me :)

This is me signaling "J" for jonagold apples

YUM!

We had such a blast!
