31 Days: Letters To Mason: Day 31

Dear Mason,

Today is the eve of your first birthday. This year came so quickly and I'm so amazed at how much you have grown and changed. You went from a 7 pound, 10 ounce little baby to a much bigger little boy!

I am looking forward to every milestone that is to come and celebrating all of the ones that have passed. I am so grateful to be your Mom and am so glad that you are my boy.

I feel like I have so many words to say but here's the thing: none of them can accurately speak what I want you to know anyway. So, Happy Birthday Big Boy! I love you tons.

Love,
Mom

31 Days: Letters To Mason: Day 30

Dear Mason,

Two more days until your big birthday and all I can think about (or really, all I'll let myself think about so I don't cry) is CAKE!! :)

I know you are going to love cake. You've eaten a little bit before but you are about to get to eat a whole cake!!!!

Speaking of cake/food, your favorite food right now is green beans. If you refuse every other food, you will still eat a pound of green beans!

Love you little green bean eater,
Mom

Fall Fest 2014

This past Sunday, Matt & Mason met me at a local church after I finished working so that we could go to their Fall Fest. Our friend, Jenn, and her daughter Skylar joined us. We wish Jenn's husband could have joined us but he had to work!

We had such a fun time playing games, making sand art, playing bingo, and eating. Skylar even got her face painted and Mason picked out his first pumpkin!!

31 Days: Letters To Mason: Day 29

Dear Mason,

One morning last week got off to a rough start due to various circumstances and we were in the car trying to get to our destination. You were fussing a bit so I reached back and grabbed your hand. I rubbed it while you held my hand tight. We sang a song and you giggled. It was a sweet moment.

Love you Bud,
Mom

31 Days: Letters To Mason: Day 26

Dear Mason,

Your Dad and I love traditions. We knew when we got married that we wanted to start some new traditions together. Birthday Traditions, Holiday Traditions, etc.

With your first birthday coming up, we have been thinking about and working on a few traditions to start for your birthday.

The first tradition is regarding wrapping your birthday gifts. I came up with the idea to wrap your gifts in newspaper. Not just any newspaper but the newspaper from November 1st, your birthday. For your first birthday, I am wrapping your gifts in the paper from the day you were born. For your next birthday, I will try to use the newspaper from this year and so on. Just a fun little tradition.

The second tradition is about candy!! One of your Dad's favorite things to do is go to the store the day after Halloween and get reduced price Halloween candy. Last year, we joked that he didn't get to do that because we were at the hospital for you to be born. We were talking about that this year and your Dad decided that a fun tradition that we would do with you is each year on your birthday your Dad would wake you up and first thing, take you to the store to get reduced priced Halloween candy! We just know it's a tradition you will grow to love.

We love you Bud,
Mom

31 Days: Letters To Mason: Day 25

Dear Mason,

You started standing up some by yourself about 2.5 months ago and you have done it a little bit off and on since then but not for long periods of time. Your Dad and I started to wonder if you were going to stand by yourself more any time soon and then, when you might walk.

We both have a feeling that one day, you are just going to stand up and start running! I can't wait to find out how it happens!

You are such a fast learner and I love watching you grow.

Love you tons,

Mom
