I Said Yes by Emily Maynard Johnson {Book Review}

Last year, I read Sean Lowe's book and I enjoyed that so much that when I saw My Story of Heartbreak, Redemption, and True Love: I Said Yes by Emily Maynard Johnson, another Bachelor/Bachelorette story, I couldn't resist!

I'm not really a Bachelor/Bachelorette fan but I enjoyed this book so much. I had followed a bit of Emily's story just over the course of time and I read a little about her in Sean Lowe's book since she was the Bachelorette when he was on the show initially.

I really enjoyed that Emily was open and honest in this book. She shared about her teenage years and the issues she went through with self-esteem and I think it's huge for women to be open. So many girls of the junior high/high school age right now feel like older women never went through what they are currently going through and that's just not true.

Emily writes about her relationship with former NASCAR driver, Ricky Hendrick and the tragedy that occurred in that relationship as well as the beauty that came from tragedy.

I loved that Emily wrote about how her relationship with the Lord changed over time and how she went from just being a "Christian" to really knowing God and walking with him.

Emily shares openly about the shows The Bachelor and The Bachelorette and about her experience with both. Just as it was with Sean Lowe's book, it is fun to read her inside scoop and behind the scenes thoughts on what the show is like. It sounds like such an incredible experience and quite the crazy one, too.

My favorite part of the book and Emily's story is that God showed her love when she least expected it and that's just how God works.

I think anyone who is a fan of the Bachelor/Bachelorette fan club would like this book. I also think anyone who just loves a good biography would enjoy it.
