Strong Brave Loved by Holly Gerth {Devotional Review}

Strong Brave Loved: Empowering Reminders of Who You Really Are by Holley Gerth has been an excellent addition to my morning reading time. 

Strong Brave Loved is truly an empowering book. Holley's words are heartfelt and it's obvious that she has lived through what she is sharing and teaching and encouraging. I really like that at the end of each devotional she asks a question or encourages an action step and then provides space for answers to those questions. As typical with most devotionals, she has included prayers for each entry as well. 

Aside from the contents, this is just a beautiful book! The cover is visually appealing and the pages inside are the same.

This would be a great book for a new mom or new believer. Just so encouraging and heartfelt!

The Better Mom Devotional by Ruth Schwenk {A Devotional Review}

This past year, I really started reading the Bible consistently while also incorporating devotionals into my daily time as well. This year, I started with The Better Mom Devotional by Ruth Schwenk. 

As always, I have not completed this whole devotional because I'm only reading one entry a day but I have a week plus under my belt and I feel confident in reviewing it. 

The Better Mom Devotional is biblically based providing a 1-2 page excerpt by the author each day along with a poignant prayer and scripture as well as two questions to reflect on. 

The days I have read so far have shared information about parenting as well as marriage and even household related topics. I am enjoying this very much and I think the questions are important for me to help me refer back to what I just read. 

I think this devotional would be great for a new mom or a mom in any season of life especially young motherhood. 

Also, if you aren't reading a devotional of some sort, I highly recommend it. It's a great way to get help with scripture application. 

Devotions for Sacred Parenting by Gary Thomas {A Devotional Review}

The most recent book that I received from BookLook Bloggers is Devotions for Sacred Parenting by Gary Thomas. I am currently reading a women's devotional as well as another devotional with Matt so why not read another one? But honestly, this season of parenting has been tough. We are entering new territory with Mason and we are learning as we go. 

Devotions for Sacred Parenting is incredible. I obviously have not read the entire devotional because that's not the point. I have finished 10/52 devotionals included in the book and I truly am loving it. 

Each day has a scripture presented for us to learn from as well as Thomas offering a story to go with it. Some are stories related to his own parenting. Some are based on the lives of friends and even others are telling stories of historical figures including people from the Bible. 

This devotional is not light. There is a great deal of information in each 4-5 page devotional but I do feel like they are relative to all ages and stages of parenting. At the end of each devotional, there are 2-3 questions for you to consider based on the day's devotional. I have read one devotional each night but when Matt and I begin reading together, we will probably take an except ever 3-5 days. They are that full of information and you need time to think about it all. 

I highly recommend this devotional if you need some encouragement and biblical perspective on parenting!

Everyday Holy by Melanie Shankle {A Devotional Review}

Everyday Holy: Finding A Big God in the Little Moments by Melanie Shankle has been a God-send for me. I have read all of Melanie Shankle's books in the past so when I saw she put out of her first devotional, I was anxious to get my hands on it. 

Everyday Holy is completely relatable as Shankle uses everyday situations, stories from her life and pop culture to draw you in to be reminded of God's goodness. I feel like sometimes devotionals can be heavy and a bit bogged down for me. These are the opposite of that. They clearly turn you toward God with scriptures and basic truths based on those scriptures but are also basic enough that even the youngest of Christians can relate to what is shared. 

I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a daily devotion. These are poignant and simple and easy to fit into a busy day.
