I'll Push You by Patrick Gray and Justin Skeesuck {A Book Review}

Oh man, I'll Push You: A Journey of 500 miles, Two Best Friends, and one Wheelchair by Patrick Gray and Justin Skeesuck is up there as one of the top books I've read this year. I laughed, I cried, I cheered, I LOVED IT! 

Patrick and Justin take turns sharing their story in this incredible book. Patrick and Justin were born mere days apart and grew up as life long friends. At some point in young adulthood, Justin began experiencing some physical difficulties that was at one point misdiagnoses as ALS. He later learns it is similar but called MAMA. Their families stuck close through diagnosis and as the disease progressed. Eventually one of the families moves to be closer to the other. 

Justin is inspired one day by watching people traverse Camino de Santiago and doesn't really understand it but he feels like he is supposed to complete this adventure. He tells Patrick without even batting an eye says, "I'll Push You." 

They train together, work hard and set off to complete this mission. The majority of the story follows them along their journey. It is full of faith, miracles, support from strangers along the way. It is a beautiful story of friendship, hardworking and God's goodness. 

I think everyone who needs a little extra hope in humanity and the beauty of friendship will love this story. Plus, it just makes you feel good!

Compost Cakes @ The Library

This past Monday I made a last minute decision to attend an event at the library with the boys. It was about composting and I knew there was a chance it would be over Mason's head but Kris said she had heard good things about the presenter so we gave it a shot. 

It did end up being a bit advanced for Mason but he had a good time, I learned about composting and there was food. ;-)

The kids made compost cakes:
Pudding for soil, graham crackers for browns, fruit snacks for greens, a straw to aerate, a gummy worm for an earthworm, and rain and plants on top with pudding and green sprinkles.

  

It was a fun time! Maddox was with us too but all he did was eat snacks. 😂😂😂

Mason Says and Does {21}

Some gems from our sweet boy! 

"Mom, do iPads work on hot summer days?"

When frustrated with me trying to show him how to do something, "Mom, let me do it the old fashioned way!"

We went to the splash pad with friends one afternoon and we got into the car and Mason said, "That is SO much fun! Thanks, Mom!"

When pulling up the the car show with Matt, "Check out All those classics, Dad!"

We went to Wal-Mart and saw Grandmom and Granddad and on our way home, Mason said, "That was a good treat to see Grandmom and Granddad!"

With Daniel Tiger on the brain, "Mom, is Anna my neighbor?"

Mason: "Does God have a penis?" 😳😳😳😳😳😳😳

Matt: "God is in heaven and I'm not sure." 

Mason: "What about Jesus?"

Matt: "Yes, I believe he did." 

Mason: "Ohhhh...hahaha." 

#Boys

We met some friends at the park for lunch and play and I had gotten Mason a lunch with a lemonade. The lemonade fell by accident and Mason cried and cried. It was very sad. Two days later, when at the grocery store, I picked some up for him. When I got home, I surprised him with it. He ran to me, hugged me big and said, "Thank you SOOO much, Momma!" 

While driving down the road, we see a man walking, Mason said, "I liked his shirt!" 

Matt gave Mason a new cracker with tandoori. Mason said, "These are a little spicy but sooooo good!" 

Easy Like Sunday Morning

This past Sunday, the boys both were wearing blue and had on their red shoes so I wanted to get some pictures. They were a little far away at first! 😂😂😂
