Dear Mason...

{On the Day before You Become Big Brother}
(Written on June 5th, 2016)

Sweet Mason Man,

You have been in our lives for 2 years, 7 months, and 4 days. Gosh, how is that even possible? I mean, I don't feel like you should still be 6 weeks old or anything BUT it doesn't feel like you're closer to 3 than not. Obviously, what is said is true: time flies!

Tomorrow is a BIG day for our family. Your Dad and I began trying to have another baby when you turned one. We tried for 6 months before getting pregnant and two months later, we miscarried. In September, 10 months after we began trying, we got pregnant with this sweet baby. Here we are, 19 months after this journey began and we are getting ready to welcome baby #2.

Since you were born, well, actually before you born, we have always wanted to have more than one child. We are so thrilled for you to get to enter into a new season of life. Obviously, it's a bit bittersweet. A season of our lives that has lasted 2 years, 7 months+ (your entire life) ends tomorrow. BUT a beautiful new season begins at the same time. We end a season of 3 and begin a season of 4. A new season with MORE love starts tomorrow. A new season in which you get promoted to big brother starts tomorrow. Seriously, you. get. to. be. a. big. brother.

I feel like that is such a special thing. You will have a sister or brother, a partner in crime, a younger person that you can teach so many things, a forever friend. I pray you never take that for granted. And I pray that your younger sibling doesn't take it for granted either.

Some prayers I have for you right now are that you will adjust easily to this new season. That you will not ever question our love for you in this HUGE transition time. That you will rise up and meet your new "role" well. That you will take it all in stride like you do most things. And also, that you continue to sleep well. Yeah, I need that. haha!!

Your Daddy and I love you TONS! And we are so excited for what's to come.

Love you dude,

Mom
