Spring Fling

Friday, April 28th, we headed downtown to Spring Fling. We've gone most of the last six years and this was no different. We like Friday night because it has the Spartanburg Criterium bike races.

We headed downtown right around 5. We were ready!

Mason needed a water fountain minute before we really got going. :)

Maddox had his own water break! He guzzled water all evening!

Some of the amateur races were going on so we headed there first.

Then we headed for food. Mason was eating the food off of this sign because he was so hungry!

We shared chicken gyro tacos, fries and Philly cheesesteak. Maddox was being impatient. ;-)

After eating, we walked through the booths set up and watched this gentleman forging. That was so neat.

Back to the bike races...I love these blue eyed boys.

Matt got these pictures of Mason and me. :)

Maddox and I did some walking while Matt took Mason to see the frisbee dog show.

The many faces of Mason...

After the show, Mason got some ice cream and then we played a few games on Wall Street.

Games wore them out so they needed some relaxation...

More games...

We did a little more strolling...

Little Bit couldn't hang anymore...

He gone :)

It was a fun filled Friday night and we are glad we got to go again this year!

What I Learned {April 2017}

Well, I'm a bit behind on this post for April but wanted to jot down a few things I learned this month...

1-- My life is so much better when I delete the Facebook app from my phone.
A friend shared that she was reducing Facebook time and I was inspired and deleted Facebook from my phone. I've done this from time to time in the past but this has been the most consistent I've been thus far. I still check in daily but it's not consuming me and I don't find myself just mindlessly scrolling!

2--Saving for something continues to be worth the wait.
We are savers. We've always been savers and I pray we always will be. That being said, we saved for a car for many years and in April we bought a car. It was such a fun experience and we are super grateful that we waited.

3--Reading is just my happy place.
For the last four years, I've been a pretty consistent reader but at times, I find myself not reading as much. When that happens, I notice a difference in myself. Reading is such a great break from reality for me and I just need it. As of April 30th, I have finished 24 books for this year.

4--Friendships are worth the effort
In the last year, many of my friendships have changed. I had a baby and life got busier. I don't get out as much because of said baby. I am working a little bit different schedule. Etc. Etc Etc. That being said, when I make time to foster friendships, I know I'm making the right choice. I'm grateful that friends have stuck close to me during this season and I'm looking forward to getting out with more ease in the coming months!

And I had one more in my head but it's gone...haha!

Our Favorite Waffle Recipe!

Today I wanted to share our favorite waffle recipe. I made these last week and intended to take a picture for this post but I forgot. I'm posting it anyway. Trust me, they are incredible and the picture wouldn't do that justice anyway!

Ingredients:
-2 cups of all purpose flour
-1 teaspoon salt
-4 teaspoons baking powder
-2 tablespoons of sugar
-1 1/4 cup of milk
-2 eggs
-1/2 cup of vegetable oil
-splash of vanilla

Directions:
-Beat Eggs and add milk

-Sift flour, salt, baking powder, and sugar into liquid.

-Mix well until free of lumps.

-Add oil and mix well.

-Stir in vanilla

-Cook it, baby!

A variation is Cinnamon Raisin waffles:
-add two teaspoons of cinnamon
-substitute 4 tablespoons of brown sugar for the white sugar
-once you pour the batter into the waffle maker, top with raisins, then cook.

We've been making this waffle recipe for many years and it never disappoints!

Farm Visit!

Friday we went to our friends' farm and had the best time. We have been trying to make it happen for way too long and Friday was the perfect day for it!

When we arrived, the kids played for a bit then we put Maddox down for a nap and headed outside for the good stuff. ;-)

They had baby chicks and ducks and Mason was a little cautious.

He was a good helper putting down some shavings...

He finally warmed up and held a duck, too.

Isn't his buddy the cutest??

We saw horse, too. A rode, Mason didn't. :)

Mason ate honeysuckle!

They played. And the mommas even got to TALK!

We got the kiddos a snack and then Maddox got up from nap. Before we left, he got to have some honeysuckle, too!

He also ate a dandelion. 😂

These friends are the best of friends.

I love that we have friends that live in the country so we can have adventures that we don't get to have daily in town. We are grateful for them!
