The Morgan's Movements {Week 27}

We started out week 27 with church then work for me. After that we headed to a church just down the street for their big yard sale! Mason loved these wooden desks and if we had room, I would have scooped one up! 

And I scored the score of all scores! An original Lite-Brite for $2!!!! 

And Mason got some dinosaurs!

  

I was pumped when I got home and turned on the Lite Brite and it came right on. :)

Monday morning, Mason didn't have speech so we headed to McDonald's for a quick breakfast and playtime for the boys. 

Maddox was not interested in pictures.

Mason wasn't either...huge win! 🤣🤣🤣

Once Matt went to work and Maddox was napping, Mason and I chilled and read some. He was very interested in the LIDL summer magazine. :)

  

OH! And that's the same day that Maddox discovered he could reach the books on the shelf next to his bed and he did so during nap! And I promptly moving the shelf before I even got him out of bed.

Visits to the library continue to be fun!

We have continued learning this summer in lots of ways but every now and then we have some workbook time. :) 

  

  

Mason helped me with our first Lite Brite creation!! 

Matt took Mason to Hatcher Garden and they came home with only 2 mosquito bites between them! And they saw two hawks! #WorthIt

  

Mason even caught some fish with his bare hands! 

Silly boy was worn out! 

When the guys returned home, Matt took a bath and Mason and I snuggled up for LOTS of books! 

The night ended with this beauty in the sky. Loved it. 

Mason wanted to be a superhero with a towel on his back and Maddox joined in. They were so super fast, this was my picture. 

  

Maddox tried walking a mile in Matt's shoes. ;-) Again, so fast I didn't get a good picture. 

  

Grandmom and Granddad visits are always the best!! Maddox gave Granddad lots of snuggles and kisses! 

  

Grandmom tried but Maddox was being a stinker. 

Grandmom was telling Mason story and he was listening so well. It was the sweetest!

As Southern As It Gets: 1,071 Reasons To Never Leave The South by H. Jackson Brown, Jr. is the PERFECT coffee table book or even the perfect guest bathroom book. :) 

This book is just a little inspirational and fun book. Within its' bindings are just what is says: 1,071 reasons to never leave the south or also 1,071 reasons to LOVE the south. 

The reasons are anything from people to places to things and it's such a good list. I have lived in the south all of my life and I found myself nodding my head most of this book. I laughed throughout as well. 

I love the cover of this book. The gingham is perfect for this style of book and it even has some texture to it which is a good plus. 

I think this would be a great gift for a Mom or a couple getting married or even a friend who just need a pick-me-up. I highly recommend. Just a great little book!

Mason's Idea!

Sunday we were all dressed for church pretty quickly. I snapped a few pictures of us just before I put on my dress. 

Mason then said, "We need to go outside, put on sunglasses and take pictures." So we did! 

First, Mom and Dad! 

Then all of us. This was the best we got but the outtakes are fun, too! 

And a few with Momma and her boys. 

Love this man so much! 

Glad Mason had such a fun idea! 

Favorite Books of 2017 {Thus Far}

My friend, Jennifer, recently posted on her blog, Lit Loving Mom, about her favorite books of 2017 so far. She inspired me and I wanted to do the same! I also have a post coming about some of our recent favorite children's books. 

By June 30th, I had finished 40 books and there were definitely some favorites in there! 

I discovered two new-to-me authors this year, Sally Hepworth and Emily Giffin. Their books have definitely been some of my favorites of this year. 

My favorite Hepworth was The Things We Keep. This book was near to me because it involves Alzheimer's/dementia which is something I work with in my career. I just couldn't put this book down. 

My favorite Giffin was Love the One You're With. I can't quite pinpoint why this particular book of Giffin's was my favorite out of all of the ones I read, but it was. If you like fiction/romance, check this one out! 

I also loved Karen Kingsbury's new book, Love Story. I mean, do I really need to say anything? I love Kingsbury. She's the first author whose books I read from cover to cover in less than a day. She re-ignited my love for reading. I just love her. 

Love that Boy by Ron Fournier was a front-runner, too. This book was an incredible view on high functioning autism and how one dad used his political pull to take trips with his son to learn more about him. I just loved it. 

 

Swipe Right by Levi Lusko was my last book of June and it is such a great book for our generation and those to come. As sex and romance become so belittled, this book helps us to remember why it is important to remain pure and also how to refocus on God despite what we may have done. So good. 

The Hideaway by Lauren Denton is my last fave for the first half of the year. This book was a quirky fiction read with lots of little twists and turns. I had a hard time getting started on it but then I couldn't put it down. 

Those were my faves. I'm starting out July with another new-to-me author, Elin Hilderbrand. Here's to 40 more by year's end!

What I Learned {June 2017}

Let's see what this ole girl learned in June! 

1. When I eat more fruits and vegetables, I feel so much better!!!

I have been eat more fruits and vegetables this past month. Hopefully, I'll share more about that eventually. But for now, I just wanted to share that I feel so much better. Eating those foods has me avoiding other foods which in turn has boosted my energy!

2. When our "shows" aren't on TV, we find other fun things to do! 

Matt and I have our "shows" that we watch in the fall and spring. Well, when those aren't on, we don't default to them and we have been doing some fun things. Playing games, watching a few movies, cooking, etc. And even giving longer foot rubs than usual!  It's been fun! Guess that little break in TV time is good! 

3. The library is literally the best thing for our family!

We have been frequenting the library for several years now but as of late, it's become such a life saver. I've been reading tons of books and we've probably read 75+ books this summer to the kids that are new to us and all from the library. Aside from that, when it's super hot outside, it's the perfect place to go and play for a while without sweating to death. Win-win! 

4. A trip to visit friends is hard when it rains non-stop! 

I took the boys to visit friends in Louisiana and it was a blast! However, we had so many fun plans and the rain squashed most of them. We still had such a good time but my boys were stir crazy and by the end, I was worn slap out! We decided next time, we might reschedule if rain was in the forecast! :) 

I think that's all for now. It was a fun month. Here's to a HOT July! 

Mason Says & Does {20}

Maddox wasn't feeding himself as he typically does and I asked Mason "What are we gonna do with him? " Mason as serious as can be says, "I have no idea!"

We got home from a park playdate and Mason said, regarding lunch, "I'll swing Maddox while you make me something." #subtle

Matt took the boys to the park one afternoon and he told me that Mason encountered a new friend who had a physical deformity of some sort and Mason played with him as if there was nothing different. I love the mind of children and how accepting they are of others. May we all learn something from them. 

I got Mason a special drink recently and he said, "Its a little sour but still good." :) 

When I asked Mason to do something, not important, he said, "I certainly not." Funny but also not.

While we were in Monroe, we visited the library. Mason said, "I need to use the computer to send something."
"To send something to Anna."
It says, "I miss you Anna and we will be home tomorrow where I can read my books and play with my toys."

I dropped a q-tip on the floor and Mason said, "Uh-oh! You dropped an ear tip!"

"Mom, why did God make me?"

Maddox was tossing food and cups etc during meal time and Masons throws his head back and says, "I give up!"

When we were getting ready to meet friends for lunch and play, Mason begins giving me the 3rd degree:
"We will eat at McDonalds?"
"You and Miss Kris will order our food?"
"And we will play while you order?"
"And I will Keep an eye on Anna because she's little" --said with a big on smirky grin on his face. :)

We were driving past a recently closed chicken restaurant and Mason saw someone standing on the corner, likely waiting to cross the road. Mason said, "That man is standing there trying to get chicken but that chicken place is closed. Closed up tight like an alligator's mouth!" 😂😂😂

"Mom, you know it's not nice to spy on people?!"
"Yeah buddy, how did you know that?"
"Curious George!!"
