An update

Every day, I think about blogging but I just don't get to it.
Things are busy yet good. Seems like I say that each time I update but it's true.

Work is going well. Matt is still looking a "career" job and it's just taking some time. We continue to be grateful that he has a job in the meantime.

Work for me is busy. Plenty of changes and I have been complaining about them But in the end, what else can you do but just roll with it?!?

We enjoyed our trip to Atlanta earlier this month. It was relaxing and adventurous and held some fun surprises along the way.

Mom came here for Easter and we both enjoyed having her here for the weekend since we had not seen her since the wedding.

We will be in Louisiana the weekend of May 13th for Alex's graduation. It will nice to be there for a couple of days. We will also see my cousin Bonnie and her sweet baby, Silas!

We have been cooking some new things lately and they have been really good. I'll try to post some recipes soon but I'm not promising!

We are both so burdened to help those in our state who have been affected by the tornado devastation. We have bought some supplies which we will bring to church Sunday to be distributed and we plan to give blood ASAP. Praying we will serve others as we would hope they would serve us if we were in their situation.

Well, I'm off to watch a little T.V. on this Friday evening while the Mr. is at work.

Looking forward to relaxing this weekend.

Til next time-

Our little herb garden

Earlier this spring Leslie and I planted a few herbs and some pea plants. Well, we are just starting to reap our harvest! We've had one batch of peas so far, they were super delish, and our herbs are going strong.

We are still trying to get used to having fresh herbs available. We have oregano, thyme, and chives. Anybody have ideas or recipes that we can try out? I'm excited to try some out.

I just did some maintenance on them the other day, so they are kept nice looking. Here are a few pictures of what I cut. We ended up freezing all of this and there is still plenty left on the porch.

Atlanta

In 15 days, my sweet husband and I will get to spend a weekend in Atlanta. We will celebrate his birthday and I am beyond excited!!!!

The first thing we plan to do is go to IKEA. We have been twice together and the last time we went we bought several of the furniture items we have in our apartment now. We both love it. It's fun because there are so many unique and modern furniture items, kitchen items, and random items. It's fun to walk around and enjoy the sites. We usually buy a few trinkets too! Here is what I have my eyes on for this trip:
http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/70176086

That night we are going to eat at the Tin Drum. It's a place we have been before and we both really like it. We bought a Groupon for $12 for $25 worth of food so we got an excellent deal!

On Saturday afternoon, we are going to a Braves/Phillies game. I'm a Braves fan and Matt is a Phillies fan so we will be cheering for opposing teams on that day. Should be fun! I'm sure we will bet something on the game...A foot rub, a back massage, etc ;-)

Saturday night we are going to Fogo de Chao, a Brazilian Steakhouse that Matt has wanted to go to for a long time. It's a bit on the pricey side but because we have been couponing and saving our pennies we will get to do that. Matt is pumped! and of course, I am too!

Sunday, we have plans but Matt doesn't know what they are so I won't blog about them yet.

I can't wait to spend the weekend in Atlanta with the Mr. and celebrate his birthday. It's sure to be fun!

A Love Letter

I've been thinking about various ways to utilize this blog. Family updates, funny happenings, birthday love, etc. Today is hit me, I also want to use this blog to let others know (in writing) how much the Mr. means to me. So, here is the first love letter.

Dear Mr. Matthew Morgan, A.K.A. my precious husband,

Today is Tuesday, March 22, 2011. We have been married for 2 months, 3 weeks and 1.5 hours as of now and as you know it has been wonderful. I have so many things that I could say in a love letter to you but today I just want to talk about your gentleness.

You have the most gentle and quiet spirit. You love the Lord so much and are so quick to believe his promises from the Word. You are so kind and gentle with me, as well. You don't get angry with me when I flip my lid sometimes because I'm stressed out. You just gently draw me in and let me know it will be okay.  I could go on and on but let's don't gross people out! ;)

The best part about you possessing such gentleness is that the Lord began to develop it within you before he created you AND he has nurtured you and increased your gentleness over your lifetime AND he knew way before we knew each other that this crazy outspoken red head would need a gentle husband.

I LOVE YOU!

The Foundation

Lately I've been thinking about how much time Matt and I have been spending together since we got married. We have spent most of our "free" time together. When we are not working or sleeping we are together at least 90% of the time. It's amazing. It's incredible. It's awesome.

Why am I so fired up about this?

Matt and I both believe that the foundation for the rest of our marriage is going to be formed within our first year of marriage. In fact, it's already formed a great deal over the last 2 months, 14 days, 4 hours and 28 minutes. We are still learning so much about each other and we KNOW that we will do that for the rest of our lives BUT so much of that learning really is happening right now.

We want to love to date each other for the rest of our lives. We want to enjoy dinners together just the two of us for the rest of our lives. We want to love sleeping next to each other for the rest of our lives. We want our sexual intimacy to honor God for the rest of our lives. We want to be a couple that people look at in awe because of how much we love each other FOR THE REST OF OUR LIVES!

Now, let me say this. We know for a fact that our lives will change so much over the years that we are married. We will eventually spend a greater amount of time with others than we are doing right now. We will have children that will decrease the amount of silence in our home but increase the amount of love shown. We will go through more trials. We will see things differently in 10 years in some areas than we do right now.

But we didn't start this thing or rather follow through with this thing that God started so that we could be miserable for the rest of our lives! We want to be joy-filled husband and wife because that is the way it should be!

Morgan Family Update

Happy March 9th! Also know as my sweet Momma's birthday!

Life has been going well.
Matt and I are really getting into a schedule that is working for us and it's great. We decided that it was really important to make sure that we make time to spend together where we intentionally spend time together not just sit in the same room. We have incorporated date night as I blogged about earlier and also we have started having game night. It's fun for us and we hope that at times it will be a couple's game night with other friends but right now it's fun with just the two of us. Last Saturday, we played Crazy 8's and Rummy.

In other news, we went to see Hillsong United last night and it was amazing.

That's all for now. I've been fighting a sinus infection and I just don't have much energy!

Couponing!

Good Morning!

It is just crazy how expensive things are these days. But since that is the case and Matt and I are trying to be excellent stewards of the money God has given us, we decided to begin couponing. I do most of the "grunt" work but Matt is an EXCELLENT cheerleader! My goal from the beginning has been to save at least 50% of every grocery bill. This week we went to EarthFare, Walgreens and Publix. Here is what we got:

1 package of organic link sausage
1 3 lb bag of Pinata apples
3 64oz. Welch's grape juice
2 packages of Boca Burgers
1 cream cheese
1 sour cream
1 gallon of milk
3 32oz. Gatorades
4 packages of Crystal Light Mix
1 box  Quaker oatmeal
1 box Ritz Crackers
2 8oz. Cool Whips
3 3-6 packs of Jello
2 large containers of Planter's Cashews
2 tubs of "I can't believe it's not butter"
1.38 lbs. of red seedless grapes
1 14oz package of frozen broccoli
1 loaf of bread
1 carton of eggs (18)

We spent $46.64 and saved $66.85!!!!

We were so excited and it was so easy!!!

Meet Splenden

On February 8th Leslie and I welcomed to our home a beautiful blue and red Betta fish named Splenden. Leslie and I had talked about getting a fish and she surprised me with it. We went to Petsmart and looked at just about all of the Bettas they had.

Splenden was one of the last we looked at and when we saw him we pretty much knew that he would fit perfectly into our family. We bought him a big bowl at Ross, rocks, a pretty blue plant, and some food and he quickly settled in at home.

After a few days we noticed that he was real mellow, wasn't eating and that his fins were starting to look pretty rough, almost torn looking. We thought maybe his fins were getting caught on his plant so we took that out, but he still didn't want to eat and his fins kept getting worse.

After some research and getting concerned for him, we did want our first pet to live more than a week and a half after all, we figured out that he most likely had fin rot. Felt much better after figuring out what was wrong and that getting him better should be easy.

So, now that we are completely changing his water every day or every other day, he is much better. He has lots of energy again and his fins are looking much, much better. He even came up and touched my finger the other night. I was pumped about that. We also got a different kind of food and some bloodworms as treats for him.

And now that I have spent many more words than were probably needed, cant blame a proud dad can you ;), I present to you Splenden!

Quick Update

Hello All!

Matt and I both decided we were going to blog tonight. He is blogging about Splenden and I wanted to blog about something more in depth/detailed etc but it's 9:00 at night and I'm a bit tired. So let's just see where this goes.

We have been busy but not busy in the sense that we are running all over the place participating in various activities. We have been busy getting used to being married. Busy adjusting to new schedules. Busy cooking and cleaning. Busy reading and watching TV together. Busy learning to coupon and grocery shopping. Busy going to the Ballet and various other places for date night. The good kind of busy.

We recently got our wedding pictures in (on CDs to view before ordering) as you know from a previous post and we have been enjoying looking at those and deciding what we want to order etc.

We have been exercising utilizing the Couch25K app and it has been beneficial for us. It helps us feel energized in an exhausting way and also allows us to feel a sense of accomplishment regarding health and wellness. It also is a time where we are alone together with no other distractions and we have enjoyed that undistracted chat time.

We have enjoyed eating at home. We promised before we got married that we would really limit our times of eating out even when we were tired and didn't want to cook. It has really challenged me to stretch my cooking abilities and really find things that were good yet simple.

I've been learning to coupon and it is super fun. This past week I spent $73 at the grocery store and saved $63. It is fulfilling and a blessing to know that we now have that extra money to spend on other things or save etc.

Obviously, tons of other things are going on in our life too but that's all I'm up to sharing right now.

Later this week or sometime soon, Matt and I want to start blogging about some more significant things that the Lord is teaching us as a couple and individually!
