The Hideaway By Lauren K. Denton {A Book Review}

The Hideaway is the debut novel for Lauren K. Denton and it was a great summer read! Sara, the main character, finds herself the recipient of something she never expected when her grandmother, Mags, dies suddenly. This brings Sara back to her hometown of Sweet Bay, Alabama from the Big Easy.

The Hideaway started as a B&B and over the years has turned into a home for Mags and her friends with the occasional guest. When Sara arrives, she begins to learn things she never knew before. Her parents died when she was 12 and although she lived at the Hideaway with Mags for many years, there was so much she didn't understand or realize. Being there for months renovating the Hideaway, she begins to uncover secrets about Mags and her family that blow everything she once "knew" out of the water.

In the process, she meets an incredible man and he also changes her. Changes what she once knew a man to be and woos her. I loved the fact that small town girl turned big city girl eventually turns into a small town girl again.

The story follows Sara and she tries to figure out where she should be, who she should be with and just what her life is about.

The first few chapters didn't draw me in but I stuck with it and fell in love with the book and read it in less than 24 hours. If you enjoy a good fiction romance book with a bit of a twist, I think you'll like this one. :)

Just as an additional note, this was categorized as a christian fiction book and I do not think that is the appropriate category for this book. It wasn't vulgar or anything like that but there wasn't a weaving of scripture or God's mighty hand in this book, in my opinion.

**I received this book from BookLookBloggers.**
