Church of the Small Things {Book Review}

I was so thrilled when I was asked to be a part of the launch team for Melanie Shankle's new book, Church of the Small Things. I have read her three previous books and I am a HUGE fan of those as well as her blog. Melanie is down to earth, genuine and downright funny.

Church Of the Small Things is no exception to the greatness. This book was so easy for me to read and I could not put it down. The entire book flowed well and was just a joy to read.

The premise of the book is celebrating the small things in everyday life that are actually significant. My favorite quote from the entire book is in the introduction: "Sometimes the biggest things God does start out in the small, most ordinary acts of daily faithfulness. The things we do so often and with so little fanfare that we don't even think about them anymore."

In our family, we are BIG on the small things. We try to have some kind of adventure every single day. These adventures can be anything from teaching a child to wash his dishes, reading a special story, going to the grocery store to the bigger things like a family vacation, birthday traditions, etc.

We truly believe that all of the small things in our lives are what we are made for. And in those small things, those daily acts, we teach our children and remind ourselves, too, that God is BIG.

Church of The Small Things is a truly inspirational book yet it is not fluff. It is rich and true and a great book for all. I cannot wait to share it with more of my friends.
