Bella's Gift by Rick and Karen Santorum with Elizabeth Santorum is such a good book. In fact, I read it in just two of my reading sessions aka my son's naptime. :)
I'm not in the least bit concerned about politics so I didn't know much about Rick Santorum and his family other than that he was involved in a presidential campaign. However, I'm always intrigued by a real life story especially when it involves a child with a rare disease/challenge etc.
First, there were a few things I didn't like about this book but all were surface level including slightly jumbled paragraphs/chapters - just slightly out of order, in my opinion. I also wasn't a huge fan of the different writing styles of Karen and Rick which was noticeable because they alternate writing every couple of chapters.
Those things set aside (which in reality didn't matter that much to me overall), I love the story presented. I'm 100% pro-life and I love to know that there are people in authority who are pro-life as well. I also loved reading Rick and Karen's perspective on marriage and family.
Mainly, I love that in this book, they didn't focus on the hardships that Bella has caused for their lives, although there have been some, they focused on the joy that Bella has brought to their lives, instead.
This story is inspiring, heart-warming, and special. Check it out!
